For determination of aluminum in chlor-alkali brines. Aluminum, particularly in combination with silica, can foul ion-exchange membranes used in the electrolytic manufacture of chlorine and alkali. This fouling can disrupt and irreversibly damage the membrane increasing energy use and causing a decrease in the quality and quantity of the product.
